Van Insurance for Northern Ireland Residents
Van insurance is probably the most complex of the insurance products that we offer for residents of Northern Ireland. The problem
is that vans come in all shapes and sizes, some companies only want to cover the bog standard box van whilst others will quote on a weird
and wonderful selection of vehicles including such things as dumper trucks whilst excluding the ubiquitous ice cream van.
As with all of these insurance products, our advice will always be to get a quote from a number of insurance companies, compare
their offerings and then go with the best offer.
Some of the things that you might want to check before buying a policy are :-
- What goods are you permitted to carry ?. Some companies are happy for you to carry your tools of the trade or goods that you
have manufactured but disallow the carriage of goods for delivery. Check the policy document to ensure that you are allowed to
carry your normal loads.
- Is your policy still valid whilst driving in Europe ?
- Does your van insurance provide third party cover for you to drive a different van ?.
- Does the policy provide breakdown cover in the UK ? In Europe ?.
- Can the van be used for social, domestic and pleasure purposes ?
- Can the van be driven by someone holding an international driving license ?.
- Does the policy provide cover if the van is used to go on holiday to Europe ?.
The answers to these and many other questions affecting van and commercial vehicle insurance for residents of Northern Ireland
will be found on the web sites of the relevant insurance companies.
